Karnataka : The new spillway gates of the Tungabhadra Dam were inaugurated by the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka on Thursday afternoon. Chief Ministers Chandrababu Naidu, Revanth Reddy and Shivakumar inaugurated 33 new spillway gates constructed by the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka governments at a cost of Rs. 51 crore. Union Minister for Water Resources CR Patil, along with ministers, officials and party workers of the respective states, attended the event. After the inauguration of the gates, the Union Minister and the Chief Ministers went to a huge public meeting in Hospet, Vizianagaram district. The CMs of the three states and the Union Minister addressed the meeting. Earlier, the Chief Ministers of the three states met at the auditorium in Munirabad, Koppal district. They discussed key issues related to inter-state water disputes. Initially, Chandrababu and DK Shivakumar met, but Revanth Reddy was 15 minutes late for the meeting. Later, the three CMs and Union Minister CR Patil held key discussions on water issues. From there, they proceeded to the inauguration of the gates.
