Left main canals of those projects to be inaugurated by the end of August: Minister Nimmala

Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said that the Veligonda and Polavaram Left Main Canals will be opened and irrigated by the end of August. He revealed that Rs. 600 crores will be paid as pending compensation to the Veligonda displaced persons from the 17th to the 24th of this month. The minister said that we are currently reviving the irrigation sector that the Goddali party destroyed for five years and are moving forward. Minister Nimmala said that 77 percent of the work in the Polavaram project has been completed and that the project will also be developed as a tourist center. He said that CM Chandrababu Naidu’s idea is to develop river-based tourism from Polavaram to Bhadrachalam. He said that the water of the Polavaram Left Main Canal will be taken to Anakapalle by the end of this month. The minister assured that North Andhra will get plenty of water through this canal. He said that providing three TMC of water through the Left Main Canal for data centers and other industrial needs would be sufficient. Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said that 36 projects that are considered priority will be completed as per schedule in the coming days. He said that in view of the impact of El Nino, only drinking water is being given first priority.
