Senior leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi, K. T. Rama Rao, on Wednesday alleged that the Telangana government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is diverting funds meant for the farmers’ welfare scheme Rythu Bandhu to what he termed as a “Rahul Bandhu” scheme.

Addressing the media, KTR criticized the state government and accused it of prioritizing political interests over farmers’ welfare. He alleged that funds intended for farmers under the flagship investment support scheme were being misused for political programs linked to the ruling party leadership.

KTR said that Rythu Bandhu was introduced during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government to provide financial assistance to farmers for agricultural investments and that any diversion of those funds would directly impact the farming community.

The former minister further demanded transparency from the state government and urged it to clarify how funds allocated for the scheme are being utilized. He also called on the government to release pending payments to farmers without delay.

Responding to the allegations, leaders of the ruling Indian National Congress dismissed the claims as politically motivated and said the government remains committed to supporting farmers and implementing welfare schemes.

The issue has sparked a fresh political debate in Telangana, with both the opposition and the ruling party trading accusations over the implementation and funding of farmer welfare programs.
