Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu has criticised the YSRCP for allegedly spreading misinformation about the government’s efforts to provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth. Atchannaidu said the previous YSRCP government had not filled a single veterinary doctor post during its five-year tenure. In contrast, he said the present coalition government had approved the recruitment of 160 veterinary doctors. The minister accused the opposition party of attempting to create obstacles whenever the government takes steps to provide jobs. He questioned whether there was anything wrong with implementing a recruitment policy sought by job aspirants. He also referred to an appeal by an unemployed association, which, according to him, stated that veterinary doctor appointments had not been made for eight years.

Atchannaidu said the government had decided to follow the earlier merit-and-weightage system for the current recruitment. Under G.O.Ms.No.52, 60 marks are allocated based on BVSc performance, 10 marks for MVSc qualification and another 10 marks for contract service. Candidates can also receive four marks for each year of seniority, subject to a maximum weightage of 20 marks. The minister said the government had initially planned to make the appointments through the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). However, he said APPSC’s current workload made it difficult to conduct the recruitment under the weightage system at this stage. As a result, the appointments will now be made through the Animal Husbandry Department under G.O.Ms.No.22, he said. Atchannaidu clarified that future veterinary doctor recruitment would be conducted through the APPSC examination system. Responding to the report, the minister also questioned the accuracy of claims regarding the Director of Animal Husbandry. He pointed out that Damodar Naidu was not the current director and said a woman officer was serving as the in-charge director.

Atchannaidu questioned how such a report could have been published without verifying who was currently holding the post. Criticising the report, he said there appeared to have been little homework but numerous allegations. He said the coalition government’s objective was to create employment opportunities, while accusing the YSRCP of attempting to obstruct recruitment. He appealed to the opposition not to politicise issues concerning the careers and future of unemployed youth. Atchannaidu asserted that the government would not back down from its efforts to provide justice and employment opportunities to young people.
