History will not forgive them.. CM Revanth fires at the opposition’s behaviour

Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday criticised the main opposition for allegedly attempting to divert discussions in the Legislative Assembly towards issues concerning the previous government. Speaking in the Assembly, Revanth Reddy said the opposition had sought to raise several issues on the opening day of the session instead of focusing on matters concerning the alleged misuse of government lands, fee reimbursement, drought relief and other public issues. The Chief Minister said the Congress government was committed to treating every girl child equally and protecting the dignity and self-respect of women and girls. He reiterated the government’s ambition of helping one crore women achieve financial prosperity and become millionaires.

Revanth Reddy also defended the role of the Assembly Speaker, saying it was the responsibility of all legislators to respect the Chair. He said the Speaker was entrusted with protecting the rights of every member and ensuring the orderly functioning of the House. Referring to the controversy at Gate-3 of the Assembly, the Chief Minister said the previous government had framed rules governing the conduct of members inside the House and that the Speaker had issued directions in accordance with those rules. He said the police had acted on the Speaker’s instructions. Responding to criticism from opposition leaders over restrictions concerning clothing, Revanth Reddy referred to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wearing a black T-shirt in Parliament. He said that if the Lok Sabha Speaker had issued an order prohibiting T-shirts carrying slogans, members would have been expected to follow it.

The Chief Minister maintained that no such restriction had been imposed by the Lok Sabha Speaker and argued that the rules being enforced in the Telangana Assembly had been framed during the previous government’s tenure. Revanth Reddy further alleged that opposition leaders had insulted police personnel and the Speaker during their protest. He said the opposition members were subsequently permitted to enter the House after indicating that they would apologise to the Speaker and participate in discussions. He said the Speaker later suspended BRS members after they allegedly failed to maintain decorum and comply with the directions of the Chair. The Chief Minister rejected allegations that the government had failed to address public concerns, saying the administration remained committed to discussing issues affecting the people in the Assembly.
