Banning immersion on Hyderabad Tank Bund is cruel: Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has strongly objected to the reported ban on Ganesh idol immersion at Hyderabad’s Tank Bund, describing the decision as unfair and questioning the arrest of representatives of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Monday, Bandi Sanjay said that members of the Utsav Committee had been protesting democratically and alleged that their arrests by the state government were unjustified. He said Ganesh idol immersion at Tank Bund has been a longstanding tradition and called for the practice to be permitted this year as well. Bandi Sanjay also demanded the unconditional release of all those arrested in connection with the protests, including Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee General Secretary Shashidhar. He urged the state government to reconsider the restrictions and allow devotees to continue the traditional immersion arrangements at Tank Bund.
