Implementation of welfare schemes keeping those groups in mind: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the state government is committed to the development and welfare of Dalits, Adivasis and tribal communities. Speaking at a committee meeting on the implementation of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister recalled former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s contribution to the welfare of disadvantaged communities. Revanth Reddy said the government had not forgotten Indira Gandhi, whom he described as someone who showed affection towards these communities like a mother. He also credited her with providing assigned pattas for 25 lakh acres of land and said the present government was working with inspiration from her initiatives.The Chief Minister reiterated that the government was making sincere efforts to improve the socio-economic conditions of Dalits, Adivasis and tribals. He further said that Dalits account for 31 percent of the beneficiaries of the Indiramma housing scheme, while 17 percent of the houses sanctioned under the scheme have been allocated to members of Scheduled Tribes. Revanth Reddy said the government would continue implementing welfare and development programmes aimed at ensuring greater support and opportunities for these communities.
