Hyderabad, August 13 (NSS): Irrigation Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will commission three pump houses of the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on August 15.

Speaking to the media at Jarasuda on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Finance Minister Pongureti Srinivas Reddy and Khammam MP Raghu Ram Reddy said the Sitarama project will be completed by August 15, 2026 and will bring about a momentous change in the agricultural landscape of Telangana by providing a reliable source of water to irrigate nearly 600,000 acres in the coming days.

The minister alleged that the previous BRS government had totally destroyed the irrigation sector and that the BRS leadership was involved in large-scale corruption in the name of reviewing the project.

“Despite spending Rs 1,810 crore in 10 years, not even a single hectare of new water has been provided in Telangana. The BRS government has spent Rs 7,436 crore but has not provided water to even a single hectare in erstwhile Khammam district,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.
