Visakhapatnam : Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that Andhra Pradesh is the second largest seafood producer in India. He said that 197 lakh metric tons of seafood are produced from AP every year. The Chief Minister believed that if the blue economy increases in AP, it will contribute to the progress of the country. The National Workshop on Seafood Exports has begun in Visakhapatnam. CM Chandrababu Naidu lit the lamp and inaugurated the workshop. On this occasion, the Chief Minister expressed happiness over Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh’s announcement that the Kakinada Port will be modernized. CM Chandrababu said that the required space will be provided to the regional office of the Central Fisheries Department within 15 days. Speaking on this occasion, CM Chandrababu Naidu said.. ‘AP’s share in the total fish production in India is 28 percent and in shrimp production 66 percent. The Center receives about 38 percent of the country’s seafood exports from AP. More than Rs. 28,000 crore worth of seafood exports are being made from AP every year. If Andhra Pradesh develops, India’s seafood exports will also develop. If AP innovates in the aqua sector, India’s blue economy will undoubtedly move forward. India’s share in the global seafood business is only 5 percent. There are huge opportunities for the country in this sector. Economic growth is possible through the blue economy. Civilizations flourish where there is water. AP has lifelines like Godavari and Krishna. The future lies in the blue economy,’ he said.
