Patna : As the Lok Sabha proceeded to debate the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary launched a “fun run” in Patna on Saturday. Participants ran from the Digha roundabout to JP Setu as part of the event, which was planned to show public support for women’s emancipation. Waving the green flag, the Chief Minister welcomed the event and spoke to the crowd, stressing the value of women’s safety, dignity, and active involvement in politics. Speaking at the event, Samrat Choudhary emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported the legislation’s goal of giving women a 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. Additionally, he gave tribute to previous Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for past efforts in Bihar that increased women’s representation and rights. The Chief Minister pointed out that women’s enthusiastic involvement in the event demonstrated the law’s increasing popularity as well as the larger objective of bolstering “Nari Shakti (women’s power)” in public life. The Women’s Reservation Bill was approved by both Houses of Parliament in 2023 and signed into law by President Droupadi Murmu; however, its implementation is now subject to the completion of the next Census and the delimitation process. In order to provide equitable and current representation based on demographic figures, it is necessary to redesign parliamentary constituencies and reserve seats for women.
