Amaravati : Home Minister Anita Vangalapudi said that the state depends on law and order for investments to come in. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, she said that the arrival of investments and industries in the state is a reflection of their performance. The crime rate in AP has decreased by 14.1 percent, and a total of 34,041 cases have been reduced. She attributed the policing using CCTV cameras and drone technology to the decrease in the crime rate. She said that after coming to power, they have paid special attention to CCTV cameras and have also taken public participation. She said that CCTVs are useful in catching the accused within 24 hours of a crime being committed. She said that the goal is to install CCTV cameras in all villages. She revealed that they have set a target of installing one lakh CCTV cameras. 70 percent of the CCTV cameras have already been installed.

The Home Minister criticized the previous government for bringing an unenforceable law in the name of Disha. They made it clear that they are giving top priority to the protection of women. They said that an IG-level officer has been appointed for the protection of women and the Shakti app has been set up. 1.5 million people have downloaded the Shakti app and also provided their WhatsApp numbers. Anita said that 8,356 missing people have been identified and sent to their homes so far. They said that serious action has been taken against the atrocities being committed against children. They said that some have seen incidents where they themselves punished them out of fear of the government’s action. They suggested that the entire department, from forensics, should work well if the perpetrators of the crime are to be punished. Anita said that there has been a 6.9 percent decrease in crimes against women. They said that the quality of investigation in sexual crimes has been achieved from 31.41 percent to more than 90 percent. They said that 591 people have been sentenced for sexual crimes. They said that after setting up the Eagle team, action is being taken against narcotics. They said that it is a matter of pride for AP to set up a team with the same name in Telangana as well. He said that they are destroying marijuana every three to four months. A total of 2366 marijuana cases have been registered, and 986 people have been arrested. He said that they are extorting money by threatening people in the name of cyber arrests. He said that a war room has been decided to be set up against cyber crimes. He said that Rs. 247 crore has been frozen in connection with cyber crime. Anita said that more than 8 thousand illegal online content has been removed.
