Nara Lokesh Directs Officials to Prioritise Job Creation for Youth in Andhra Pradesh, Sets Target of 2 Lakh Jobs

Vijayawada, February 20: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Human Resources Development, IT and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, has directed officials to intensify efforts toward creating employment opportunities for the youth across the state. Emphasising the need for a structured and time-bound action plan, he set a target of generating nearly two lakh jobs during the current year.

During a high-level review meeting with senior officials, Lokesh stressed that the government’s focus should not only be on attracting investments but also on ensuring that these investments translate into meaningful employment for local youth. He instructed departments to prepare a comprehensive roadmap aligned with industry requirements and upcoming projects.

Highlighting the importance of skill development, the Minister called for identifying sector-wise skill gaps and designing specialised training and reskilling programmes. He suggested collaborating with industry experts to align training curricula with real-time market demands, particularly in emerging sectors such as electronics, green energy, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.

Lokesh also reviewed the progress of constituency-level job fairs, which are being conducted periodically to connect employers with job seekers. Officials informed him that these job fairs have already helped thousands of youth secure employment, and plans are underway to conduct them on a quarterly basis across all constituencies.

In addition, the Minister directed that upcoming teacher recruitment notifications for universities and government degree colleges be included in the state’s job calendar, further expanding employment avenues.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to empowering youth, Lokesh said that Andhra Pradesh aims to position itself as a leading employment-generating state by combining industrial growth with strong skill development initiatives.

The meeting concluded with officials assuring the Minister that detailed action plans would be submitted soon to achieve the ambitious employment target.
