Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh (20 Feb 2026) — The 2nd edition of the All India Police South Zone T20 Cricket Tournament 2025-26 was formally inaugurated today by Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha at the Andhra Pradesh Special Police 6th Battalion Grounds in Mangalagiri, Vijayawada.

Organised under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board, New Delhi and hosted by the Andhra Pradesh Police, the five-day tournament will run from February 20 to 24, 2026 at the Mulapadu Cricket Stadium.

A total of 10 teams are participating, representing six states — Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh — along with two Union Territories (Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands) and two Central Armed Police Forces (NSG and ITBP).

At the opening ceremony, Minister Anitha emphasised that sporting events like this foster unity, discipline and physical and mental fitness among police personnel, noting that such platforms also promote teamwork and morale within the force. She highlighted that hosting national-level sporting events contributes to the broader vision of developing Amaravati as a world-class sports hub.

Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta praised the tournament as a symbol of camaraderie and service spirit among police forces across the region. For the first time in the history of All India Police sports, the semi-final matches will be televised live on DD Sports, potentially reaching audiences in nearly 160 countries.

Senior police officials and organisers were present at the event, and the games began with a ceremonial guard of honour and competitive matches marking the start of the T20 showdown.
