The Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Vangalapudi Anitha, on Wednesday unveiled the state’s comprehensive Heat Wave Action Plan aimed at protecting citizens from the rising temperatures expected during the summer months.

The plan focuses on strengthening early warning systems, improving coordination among government departments, and ensuring quick response mechanisms to reduce heat-related illnesses and deaths across the state.

Speaking at the launch event, Anitha stressed the importance of preparedness as heat waves have become increasingly frequent and intense in recent years. She directed district administrations to remain alert and implement preventive measures, particularly in vulnerable areas where temperatures are likely to soar.

As part of the action plan, the government will promote public awareness campaigns on heat safety, encourage adequate hydration, and ensure the availability of drinking water in public places. Health departments have also been instructed to keep hospitals and primary health centers ready to handle cases of heat stroke and dehydration.

Special attention will be given to outdoor workers, elderly citizens, and children, who are considered most vulnerable during extreme heat conditions. Officials will also coordinate with local bodies to establish cooling shelters and shaded areas in urban and rural regions.

The Home Minister urged people to follow safety guidelines issued by authorities and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours.

With the implementation of this plan, the government aims to minimize the impact of heat waves and safeguard the health and well-being of people across Andhra Pradesh during the summer season.
