Hyderabad : Former Minister Harish Rao has written an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He alleged in the letter that Telangana’s water rights have been put in serious danger due to the negligence of the Congress government. He criticized the government for ignoring the warnings given by the BRS government regarding the maintenance of lift irrigation pumps. He said that this has damaged the pumps and led to a failure in the management of Kaleshwaram and Devadula projects. He accused the Congress government of failing miserably in protecting Telangana’s water rights. He said that Telangana has fallen to a historic low in the use of Krishna water. While Andhra Pradesh uses 74 percent, Telangana is limited to 25 percent, he said in the letter. The former minister criticized the Congress for putting the future of farmers, drinking water needs and industries at risk. He clarified in the letter that solar-based power policies have become a threat to the irrigation sector. That is why he demanded that the farmer’s DISCOM proposal be withdrawn immediately. He said that 24-hour quality power supply should be provided to lift irrigation projects. He said that adequate funds should be allocated for the management of Kaleshwaram and Devadula projects. Harish Rao stated in the letter that water rights should be effectively protected without questioning the future of Telangana.
