Amaravati : The AP government has taken a key decision on the retirement age of employees of PSUs, corporations and societies. The government has issued a GO increasing the current retirement age of 60 years to 62 years. The government issued the order on Thursday in accordance with the resolution approved by the state cabinet earlier. According to the government order, this decision will be implemented retrospectively from January 1, 2022. Also, eligible employees who retired at the age of 60 years have the opportunity to return to duty. The government has clarified that there will be no salary for the gap period until they return to duty. It has been stated that the gap period will not be taken into account for seniority and promotions. As per the court order, the government has decided to provide full service benefits to employees who have worked up to 62 years. The order states that retirement will be applicable as per the old rules for employees who have already retired at the age of 60 and are not interested in returning to duty. The government has issued orders to the institutions to make necessary amendments in the service rules to implement this decision. However, it has advised each institution to take decisions keeping in mind their financial situation. The state government has directed all departments to immediately send orders to the PSUs, corporations and societies under their jurisdiction.
