Welfare of handloom workers is the government’s goal : Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao

Hyderabad : Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that the welfare of handloom workers is the government’s goal. The minister participated in the National Handloom Day celebrations and spoke. He said that more than 100 handloom stalls have been opened at the People’s Plaza. He said that the handloom textile exhibition will continue from August 7 to 16. He said that the recipients of the Konda Laxman Bapuji Handloom Award will be honored. He called for purchasing handloom products and encouraging weavers. He said that handloom is a symbol of Indian culture and heritage. The minister said that the handloom of Gadwal, Pochampally and Narayanpet is recognized at the world level. He said that Telangana is at the top in geo-tagging of handloom workers. He said that modern handloom skill training is being provided to the youth through IIHT. He said that financial assistance of Rs. 18 thousand is being provided per year under ‘Netanna Bharosa’ and an insurance facility of Rs. 5 lakh has been provided under the ‘Netannaku Bodhara’ scheme. He said that Rs.49.27 crores have been released for handloom loan waiver. He said that the government has released a total of Rs.980 crores for the handloom sector. He said that 3096 metric tons of yarn are being supplied through the Vemulawada Yarn Depot. He said that the pending elections of handloom cooperative societies will be held. Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao stated that the Congress government is giving equal priority to farmers and weavers.
