Government’s goal is to bring back the glory of handloom weaving: CM Chandrababu

Bapatla : Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the ‘Netanna Sevalo’ scheme has been launched on the occasion of National Handloom Day along with the handloom families. On Friday, the CM participated in the National Handloom Day program in Kothapet, Vetapalem mandal and addressed the gathering. He said that it was his good fortune to come to Chirala. He said that financial assistance of Rs. 25 thousand is being provided to each eligible handloom family. He said that the scheme will be applicable to a total of 71,636 handloom families. He revealed that Rs. 179 crore will be directly deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries. He said that the promise given during the elections has been kept.

Chirala handloom is recognized across the country: The CM said that he has a special fondness for handloom workers. He reminded that he knows the hardships of handloom workers. He said that he fought for handloom workers even when he was in the opposition. He said that handloom is not just a profession.. it is a symbol of Indian culture. He described handloom as an art that the country is proud of. He said that Chirala handloom has a special recognition across the country. Chirala silk and cotton sarees are particularly popular. He said that once upon a time, Chirala kerchiefs were exported abroad. He said that the handloom sector has faced serious difficulties over time. He said that handloom will be promoted and living standards will be increased. He said that the handloom products of Chirala, Venkatagiri, Dharmavaram, Uppada, Srikakulam, Mangalagiri, Padanur, Pedana and Narasapuram are recognized worldwide. CM Chandrababu Naidu clarified that the government’s goal is to bring back the glory of handloom.
