TN CM announced that the free LPG cylinder scheme will be implemented from the Pongal

Chennai : Chief Minister Joseph Vijay showered blessings on women at the Tamil Nadu Assembly. He said that he will launch several welfare schemes as a witness to the Legislative Assembly on Monday as per the election promise. CM Vijay announced that three free LPG cylinders will be provided to every eligible family per year during the budget session. CM Vijay said that this will be implemented under the ‘Annapurni Super Six’ scheme. He revealed that the scheme will be implemented so that the money will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The Chief Minister announced that this free LPG cylinder scheme will be implemented from the Pongal festival next year. About 1.30 crore families will benefit under this scheme. Also, the state exchequer will incur an expenditure of about Rs. 4,000 crore per year.

CM Vijay also announced the ‘Vetri Payana Thittam’ scheme, further expanding free bus travel for women and transgenders. Through this scheme, free bus travel has been announced for transgenders and its scope has been expanded for women. From now on, women and transgenders will be given the opportunity to travel free in express, limited stop service and deluxe service buses. The CM clarified that there will be no income limit or any restrictions on the number of trips to get free travel. Meanwhile, he said that this scheme will come into effect from October 2, Gandhi Jayanti. Also, Chief Minister Joseph Vijay announced another sensational decision in the Assembly. He said that his government is withdrawing the proposal to build a second airport in Parandur on the outskirts of Chennai. He made it clear that he will support those protesting against the airport. “We are withdrawing the Parandur airport project. I will stand by the protesters fighting against the proposed airport,” Vijay said.
