Assistance to eligible fishing families: Minister Atchannaidu

Amaravati : Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Atchannaidu has announced that the state government will extend support to fishing families affected by the cyclone and the resulting suspension of fishing activities. As part of the relief measures ordered by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, 50 kg of rice will be provided free of cost to each eligible fishing family. The Minister directed the district administration to ensure that the rice is distributed to fishermen’s families who have been affected by the disruption of their livelihoods. Atchannaidu said the government would extend assistance to all eligible fishing families in the coastal areas and ensure that relief reaches them without delay. He said providing timely support to families facing hardship is one of the government’s priorities during natural calamities.

The Minister also appealed to fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea until weather conditions improve. He urged them to strictly follow warnings and instructions issued by the authorities and remain in safe locations. Emphasising that the safety of fishermen is the government’s foremost concern, Atchannaidu said every possible measure was being taken to protect their lives during the adverse weather conditions. Meanwhile, the Minister confirmed that a fishing boat from Kakinada carrying nine fishermen has safely reached Paradip in Odisha. All nine fishermen on board are reported to be safe.
