Amaravati : The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated around ₹2,000 crore for various works related to the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu, Minister Narayana said. Despite the state’s financial constraints, the government has made arrangements to ensure that the Pushkaralu are conducted on a grand scale, he said. Of the total allocation, ₹1,000 crore has been sanctioned specifically for development works in Rajahmundry. Narayana said the government also plans to revive projects that had remained stalled by utilizing funds from the Centre. He alleged that ₹5,350 crore sanctioned earlier under the Jal Jeevan Mission had not been utilized in February 2019. The minister said the government was taking steps to accelerate development works and make the necessary arrangements for the Pushkaralu.

Minister Narayana said that work has begun with the aim of developing Amaravati into one of the top five capital cities in the world. He criticized the previous government, alleging that it had undermined the development of Amaravati. He said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is taking steps to complete the construction of Amaravati by the end of 2028. Narayana also said that the government is working to implement 34 per cent reservation for BCs in municipal elections and is approaching the Supreme Court on the issue. He said the government has decided to defer the elections until the court delivers its verdict. Narayana further stated that elections would be conducted for 123 municipalities across the state in the coming days.
