Delhi : MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and called for the immediate suspension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Speaking in Delhi on Tuesday, the MP alleged that lakhs of voters had been removed from electoral rolls in several states in the name of the SIR process. He said that the INDIA bloc MPs would take out a march from the Makar Dwar of Parliament to the Election Commission of India (ECI) office and submit a memorandum to the Commission. Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were attempting to control the Election Commission. He accused the BJP-led government of undermining democratic institutions and violating the rights of Members of Parliament. Meanwhile, INDIA bloc MPs are set to stage a protest against the Election Commission. The MPs have already gathered at the Makar Dwar of Parliament and have decided to march towards the Election Commission office. In view of the proposed protest, heavy police security has been deployed in and around the Parliament area.
