Hyderabad : BRS MLA and former minister Harish Rao expressed his anger at the Congress government. Speaking to the media today (Monday), he said that the Congress is not willing to give money to the farm laborers. He questioned what the condition of the farmers would be if they did not plant crops. He questioned how the farm laborers should live and whether migration should stop. He criticized that migration had returned when BRS was in power and now migration has started again. BRS leader Harish Rao has strongly criticized the Congress government in Telangana over its handling of the water crisis, accusing it of neglecting farmers and prioritizing beer companies over agricultural and drinking water needs. Harish Rao questioned the government’s repeated attempts to link various shortages and difficulties to El Niño. He pointed out that farmers were being forced to install diesel engines to protect their crops and argued that the state government’s negligence was responsible for the prevailing situation. He also criticized officials for attributing the coal shortage to El Nino. Questioning the government’s handling of irrigation projects, Harish Rao asked why the motors at the Devadula project were not being operated despite the need for water. He also expressed concern over the Singur Project, stating that only two TMC of water remained available for use.

He alleged that the government was supplying even this limited water to beer manufacturing companies to ensure there would be no liquor shortage during the Dasara festival. He questioned whether this was the priority of the Congress government and demanded clarity on its action plan for the Singur Project. Harish Rao also highlighted what he described as the government’s double standards in dealing with farmers. He alleged that farmers were sent to jail when the Jurala gates were opened to secure water for crops, and demanded that cases be registered against the government for allegedly supplying water to beer companies while failing to meet drinking water needs. Lashing out at the government, he said it was refusing to lift and utilize available water despite the needs of farmers and the public. He also questioned whether the Chief Minister could not spare even an hour to speak with farmers and understand their problems. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government was more concerned about supplying water to beer companies and pursuing political activities in Delhi than addressing the state’s pressing issues. He accused the government of failing to prioritize farmers, irrigation and drinking water requirements.
