Amaravati : Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan said that preserving traditional arts does not only mean promoting them, but also protecting the health and welfare of the artists who make their livelihood from them is the responsibility of the government. He said that while talking to the artisans and handloom workers during the Andhra Pradesh Handicraft Festival, he came to know about the occupational health problems they are facing. Responding on the occasion of the Handicraft Festival, Pawan Kalyan said that he got the opportunity to interact with the artisans and handloom workers in a spiritual way. He said that their extraordinary skill, immense patience and dedication to their profession impressed him a lot. He said that the artists who have been working hard for years are facing many health problems like back, neck, joint pain, eye problems and respiratory problems. He said that he strongly believes that it is the responsibility of the coalition government to protect the health of the artists who carry the culture and traditions of the state on their hands. Pawan said that similar medical camps will be continued in more clusters of handicraft and handloom artists in AP in a phased manner. He said that through these camps, along with general health check-ups, expert medical services, diagnostic tests and necessary guidance for further treatment will be provided where necessary. He urged every artisan and every handloom worker to take advantage of these programs. ‘Respecting art means respecting the artist’s work. Respecting the artist’s work means protecting his health. Only if the artists are healthy will our traditions and heritage remain alive for future generations. To protect art.. we must first protect the artist,’ Pawan Kalyan said .
