Hyderabad : Telangana has taken another key step in the semiconductor sector. The country’s first CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) Pad Technology Hub has been launched in Hyderabad. The hub, set up at T-Works, was inaugurated by State IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu on Saturday. The center was set up with technical assistance from Japan’s Toho Koki. With its availability, the domestic semiconductor industry will get a boost. Through this hub, students, startups and researchers will be trained on cutting-edge technology and necessary support will be provided for research and product development. On this occasion, Minister Sidhar Babu said that they are working towards starting the manufacturing of CMP pads domestically in the next 18 to 24 months. The minister said that the key technologies required for semiconductor manufacturing will be developed in Telangana itself. He said that the government is committed to making the state a leading semiconductor hub in the country. The minister expressed hope that this hub will serve as a platform for the development of cutting-edge semiconductor technology, further strengthening the partnership with Japan. Minister Sidhar Babu revealed that the Congress government has formulated a roadmap to build a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, from research to skill development, prototyping and chip manufacturing.
