Amaravati : Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu shared an interesting post on social media platform X about the flow of water through the Veligonda Project. The Chief Minister shared a video showing monkeys quenching their thirst by drinking water flowing through the Veligonda feeder canal. Reacting to the video, Naidu wrote, “With water… life, life.” He expressed happiness that the Veligonda water reaching drought-hit areas was not only meeting the drinking water needs of people but also providing relief to animals and other living beings.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated and dedicated Phase-I of the Veligonda Project to the nation. At the Veligonda feeder canal near Gantavanipally in Markapuram district, the Chief Minister performed Jalaharati and offered a saree and other traditional offerings to Krishnamma. Later, he unveiled the project pylon and released water from Nallamala Sagar by pressing a button along with local farmers. The project is expected to bring relief to drought-affected areas of Prakasam, Nellore and Kadapa districts. Under Phase-I, irrigation water will be supplied to around 1.19 lakh acres, while drinking water will be provided to a population of approximately four lakh people.
