Hyderabad, May 25: The Union government was criticized by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for failing to buy the harvested crops. He said that the Center was doing nothing to buy paddy, maize, etc., except from issuing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the crops. The Chief Minister met with the state CPM delegation at the Secretariat here on Monday to discuss foodgrain procurement, the status of the Musi Rejuvenation project, and changes to the educational system to give the less fortunate access to high-quality education. Revanth urged the leaders of the Left party to oppose the Center on procurement. Reddy said that only the State government was buying all of the grain grown by the farmers, with the Union government only acquiring 30% of the agricultural grains. The Chief Minister notified the leaders of the Left party about the lack of Hamalis (loaders) as a result of the West Bengal elections. The buying procedure at the centers was paused in the afternoon due to the prevailing heat wave conditions, he said.
