Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Dr. Rayapati Shailaja responded to the comments of YSRCP leader and former minister Gudivada Amarnath. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, she said that she strongly condemns comments that denigrate women. She said that the comments made by Gudivada Amarnath about AP Home Minister Anita should be strongly condemned. She said that criticism is natural in politics. But speaking in a way that insults women is not justified. She said that addressing a woman minister as a ‘makeup minister’ is not only insulting her but all women. Shailaja commented that talking about women’s appearance, clothing and makeup is not political criticism… it is insulting the dignity of women. She said that a woman should be judged not by her appearance, but by her performance and ability. She said that it is even more painful when public representatives elected by the people make such comments. She said that if there are political differences, they should discuss policies but not resort to personal insults and comments that hurt the dignity of women send wrong signals to the society. Society will not accept these comments.. The State Women’s Commission has become serious about former minister Gudivada Amarnath, who made derogatory remarks about Home Minister Anita. The commission will send a letter to the DGP to take action against Amarnath. Similarly.. the Women’s Commission has decided to summon Gudivada Amarnath. Many people have complained to the Women’s Commission that he is not only making derogatory comments but also speaking in a defensive manner. Since the Women’s Commission Chairperson Rayapati Sailaja is not in her village, it has decided to send the summons tomorrow (Wednesday).
