Amaravati : The Andhra Pradesh government has made key changes to the governance of state universities by dissolving the governing bodies of 19 universities. It has also removed the nominated members who were appointed during the previous government’s tenure. The government issued orders for the dissolution of the governing bodies of the respective universities. The decision applies to the nominated members appointed under Clause 2. However, it clarified that there will be no change in the members who continue to hold office under the existing provisions.

The government further stated that the ex-officio members appointed under Clause 1 will continue in their positions as usual. As part of the reorganization process, the government has initiated the reconstitution of university governing bodies. In this regard, a new governing body has already been constituted for Andhra University (AU). It is also reported that similar steps will be taken to constitute new governing bodies for the remaining universities across the state.
