Hyderabad : Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Congress government has paid special attention to the establishment of floating solar power plants in Telangana. He said that the power and irrigation departments are jointly studying the establishment of solar plants on reservoirs. He revealed that several reservoirs including Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam are being examined. Several key issues are being discussed in the Telangana Assembly sessions. On this occasion, members raised questions on solar power. Deputy CM Bhatti gave an explanation on this and revealed key issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that his government has taken a special initiative to set up floating solar plants. However, the high cost has become the main challenge. He said that due to the central government’s regulations, an additional burden of Rs. 1.30 crore per megawatt is being imposed. Bhatti said that if the central government relaxes the regulations, investments will increase further. He said that the current electricity demand in the state has reached 19 thousand megawatts. He said that the demand is increasing drastically with industrial growth. On the other hand, he said that Rs. 19 thousand crores are being spent annually on electricity subsidies.

Also, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti said that the Congress government has also focused on solar and pumped storage projects. To this extent, he revealed that a pilot project is being undertaken for solarization of 80 villages in Amrabad. He said that efforts are being made to set up micro grids in those villages. On the other hand, he said that solar power will be promoted in tribal areas. For this, it was revealed that it has been decided to implement the ‘Indira Saura Giri Jal Vikasam’ scheme. Farmers and people are urged to come forward to set up solar plants. Bhatti Vikramarka also advised the MLAs to create awareness among the people about solar power.
