CM Chandra Babu orders district collectors to prepare a welfare calendar

Amaravati : The second day of the district collectors’ meeting chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu began at the Velagapudi Secretariat on Friday. On the occasion, CM Chandrababu made key comments on the implementation of welfare schemes and instructed district collectors to prepare a welfare calendar. He suggested that the dates on which various welfare schemes are being implemented should be clearly announced. He also instructed the collectors to organize awareness programmes for beneficiaries on making proper use of the financial assistance provided under various welfare schemes.

The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare activities aimed at adding value to traditional caste-based occupations. He ordered that handloom and handicraft centres be developed as experience centres. He also suggested that welfare festivals be organized from time to time. Regarding loans through the Kapu Corporation, CM Chandrababu Naidu said that available funds should be utilized immediately. If there are insufficient funds, he instructed officials to bring the matter to his attention, assuring them that he would sanction the required funds immediately.

The Chief Minister expressed anger over pensions and houses being allocated according to individual preferences under the guise of family mapping. He said this was not correct and emphasized that the government’s concept is that of a combined family. CM Chandrababu directed district collectors to formulate policies to provide greater benefits to large families. The CM said that the Waqf Board has vast land assets, but the income generated from them is limited. He instructed officials to work effectively and ensure justice for the minority community. He said that income should be generated for both the Minority Welfare Department and the Endowments Department.

He reminded officials that the Venkateswara Swamy temple alone generated Rs.7 crore in income in a single day. The CM said there are many such assets and instructed officials to explore ways to generate income from them. On this occasion, CM Chandrababu observed that the government’s performance in the minority welfare sector was weak and directed officials to work harder for the minority community and ensure that justice is done to them.
