New Delhi : Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan met Union Water Resources Minister CR Patil in Delhi on Tuesday. The Deputy CM discussed several key issues in the meeting. CR Patil suggested that special attention should be paid to preventing water shortages and conserving rivers. Pawan Kalyan congratulated the central officials who are working hard to implement the Jal Jeevan Mission. Surat model should be examined: The Deputy CM commented that water shortage is still continuing in some parts of AP. He said that more effective measures are needed for a stable supply of drinking water to the people. He suggested that special attention should be paid to the purity and quality of river water in the context of Godavari Pushkara. Pawan Kalyan said that a study should be made on the reuse of treated industrial water in Surat. He suggested that the possibilities of implementing the Surat model in AP should be examined. Comprehensive action is needed to conserve rivers: He expressed concern that problems continue in some areas despite the measures being taken in AP for the last ten years. He expressed concern that rivers and water resources are being affected due to industrial pollution. The Deputy CM ordered the officials to take strict action to ensure that ‘Zero Liquid Discharge’ (ZLD) is not done. He directed that water should be brought to drinking water standards in line with the aspirations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Pawan Kalyan opined that comprehensive action is needed for water reuse, pollution control and river conservation.
