Amaravati, May 29: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Friday ordered the Pollution Control Board to carry out ongoing inspections to stop industrial effluents from being dumped into the Godavari River due to the river’s worrisome degree of pollution. Officials from the Pollution Control Board (PCB) claim that the level of pollution entering the Godavari River, which comes from urban regions, industrial zones, rural areas, and the aquaculture industry, has reached a critical and concerning level. The Godavari River is currently contaminated by about 104 million liters of sewage per day that are released by municipalities spread across six districts. Up to 32 million liters of garbage are discharged every day from the Andhra Paper Mills alone. In addition, there were significant amounts of industrial waste and an additional 8.38 million liters of sewage from rural areas.
